Monitors telemetry and other monitoring devices, recognizes pertinent arrhythmias, continual communication with the nursing floor staff and maintains appropriate documentation.Identifies and documents rhythms accurately.Maintains documentation and logs.Recognizes life threatening arrhythmia's, changes in baseline EKG s and pertinent arrhythmia's related to patient diagnosis and notifies appropriate care providers within a timely manner for both lethal arrhythmia's and non-lethal arrhythmia's.Recognizes changes in other monitoring devices' parameters, such as respiratory rate, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, and ventilator alarms and notifies appropriate nursing staff in a timely manner.Professional communication with multiple levels of staff.Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: High School Graduate or GED. Requires knowledge of cardiac and/or ECG interpretation.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: EMT, RN/LPN, Cardiac Monitor Tech or Cardiovascular Tech, Medical Assistant or previous experience preferred.
COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment with irregular hours. Requires being flexible in work situation and demonstrating initiative.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: EMT, RN/LPN, Cardiac Monitor Tech or Cardiovascular Tech, Medical Assistant or previous experience preferred. Must possess basic computer skills (Microsoft Word ).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sedentary Work Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
