Job Details:
Manages practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care in an ambulatory setting caring for non-hospitalized patients in areas providing chemotherapy or infusions; stress testing, procedural sedation or for sites supervising more than 5 or more specialties within a specified Department or Institute. Establishes clinical direction for nursing care delivery, provides clinical supervision and maintains quality outcomes. Supervises all aspects of personnel management and development. Maintains adherence to regulatory standards. Coordinates unit operations with other depts. Assists in the development and monitoring of budget. Works in collaboration with the Department Chair, Department Administrator and Clinical Director re: clinical operations.Ensures practice of professional nursing and manages delivery care. Collaborates with liaison departments in maintaining patient care standards; utilizing evidenced based practice as applicable. Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit. Oversees development and implementation of policies and procedures to insure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit. Fosters patient satisfaction. Develops and maintains unit related patient care standards through continuous quality improvement. Develops quality initiatives. Attains and maintains JC and other regulatory standards. Manages operation of unit. Analyzes personnel structure, determines staffing needs and mix. Monitors productivity. Provides direction and supervision to unit. Evaluates performance, conducts selection and termination process, develops strategic plans. Actively promotes staff and self development, seeking and soliciting input from staff on issues. Provides follow up to employees within an appropriate timeframe Directs unit participation in evaluation of new products. Approve purchases and establishes and revises inventory quotes. Participates in clinical nursing research and supports foundation research activities. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: BSN required. MSN preferred. High degree of clinical expertise in specialty area managed.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Nursing certification in specialty area preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Ability to function in a variety of medical situations. Professional behavior/appearance required, ability to focus on patient safety, teamwork, patient outcomes, patient experience and quality improvement. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Four years experience as clinical nurse.. Demonstrated skills in leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range. May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids. Light Work -- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
